When adding new contacts or companies from Find New, Sales Navigator, or the LinkedIn extension, Crono automatically checks whether those records already exist in your workspace or connected CRM.
This helps you avoid importing duplicates and keep your database organized.
When searching for new contacts or companies, you may see three different options:
In Crono / Exists in Crono: the contact or company already exists in your workspace. You can click to open the existing record.
Show Similar / N similar found: Crono has identified one or more records that might match the one you're trying to import. You can review them before proceeding.
Add: no matching records were found, so you can proceed with the import.
Crono checks for both exact and potential matches.
An exact match is found when a contact has the same LinkedIn profile or Sales Navigator lead reference, or when a company has the same LinkedIn company page.
If no exact match is found, Crono also looks for similarities, such as:
Contacts with the same full name
Companies with the same website or a similar name
Contacts or companies in your connected CRM with matching names or LinkedIn profiles
These checks include all records in your workspace, even those belonging to your teammates.
The Show Similar option is available in different areas of Crono:
Find New: When browsing contacts or companies from the Crono database or Sales Navigator.
Dashboard โ Signals โ Company change: When selecting Update company.
LinkedIn extension: On LinkedIn profiles, company pages, Sales Navigator lead and account lists, or when changing a contact's company.
When Crono identifies potential duplicates, you can review them before deciding whether to import a new record or use an existing one.
To do this:
Click Show Similar or N similar found to see the suggested matches.
Review the available information, such as the contact's name, company, and job title. If needed, click Open in Crono or Open in CRM to check the existing record.
If you recognize the same contact or company, click Confirm, Connect, or Link contact, depending on where you're performing the action.
If a suggested match is incorrect, click Discard to exclude it.
If none of the suggestions match, select Create as a new contact or Add new to create a separate record.
When you confirm a match, Crono links the LinkedIn profile to the existing record. This means that the next time you encounter that contact or company, Crono can recognize it directly as In Crono.
If the matching record only exists in your connected CRM, Crono will first import it and then link the LinkedIn profile.
Important: Contacts or companies with potential matches cannot be selected for bulk import until their suggested matches have been reviewed. This helps prevent accidental duplicates when importing multiple records at once.
Since Show Similar also checks for potential matches, some suggestions may refer to different people or companies.
For example:
Common names: Two contacts named John Smith might work at completely different companies. Always check the company and job title before confirming.
Similar company names: A short company name might match other companies containing the same word, even when they are unrelated.
Missing LinkedIn profiles: If a contact or company doesn't have a LinkedIn URL saved, Crono may not be able to identify an exact match.
Confirming the correct match helps Crono recognize that record more accurately in future searches.
This can happen when two records share the same name or similar information.
Click Discard to exclude the incorrect suggestion. If no other matches remain, you can proceed with Add.
The existing contact may not have a LinkedIn profile saved, their LinkedIn URL may have changed, or their name may be written differently.
Try adding the correct LinkedIn URL to the existing contact card so Crono can recognize it in future searches.
This may happen if the company has changed its name or website.
Check the existing company record and make sure its LinkedIn company page is saved correctly.
If you confirm the match, Crono will import the existing CRM record into your workspace and link it to the corresponding LinkedIn profile.
