Credits in Crono: what they are and what uses them

The three credit types, exactly which actions consume each one, and how monthly and purchased credits work together.

Crono uses credits for two things: finding data about your prospects, and generating content with AI. There are three types, and they are kept separate — running out of one does not affect the others.

These are the names you will see on the purchase screen in Crono, so this article uses them throughout.

The three credit types

Enrichment credits

Enrichment credits are what you spend to find a prospect's business email address — that is what most people use them for. The same credits also pay for the other business data Crono looks up for you:

  • Business email addresses

  • LinkedIn profile URLs for contacts, and LinkedIn page URLs for companies

  • Company websites and company industry

It is worth knowing this: if you enrich a company and only expected to pay for an email, the LinkedIn URL, website and industry come out of the same pool.

Phone number credits

Used only to find direct mobile phone numbers for contacts. Email enrichment never touches this pool, and vice versa.

AI credits

Used for every feature where Crono generates or rewrites text for you.

What consumes what

Enrichment credits

  • Enriching a contact or company from the contact card, from Lists, or in bulk

  • Enriching contacts or companies as you add them from Find New — 1 credit per company

  • Enriching contacts or companies as you import them from LinkedIn with the browser extension

Phone number credits

  • Any enrichment where you ask for a mobile number, wherever you start it from

AI credits

  • Rewrite with AI, whether you rewrite a single step or every template in a sequence

  • Generating a template with AI

  • Creating a sequence entirely with AI

  • Enriching an AI Field on a contact or company — 1 AI credit per enrichment

Crono shows you how many AI credits an action will cost before you confirm it, so you are never surprised.

You only pay for results

Enrichment and phone lookups run through a waterfall: Crono queries a series of data providers — twelve of them across email, phone and LinkedIn lookup — one after another until one returns an answer.

  • However many providers are queried, a successful lookup costs 1 credit

  • If nothing is found, no credit is deducted

Enrichment credits and phone number credits are counted separately in this.

Monthly credits and purchased credits

Your plan includes an allowance of each credit type every month. That allowance resets at the start of each month and does not roll over.

You can buy extra credits at any time. Purchased credits never expire and stay available until you use them.

Crono always spends your monthly allowance first, and only starts drawing on purchased credits once the monthly allowance is used up — so buying ahead never costs you the credits you have already paid for in your plan.

Checking your balance and buying more

  1. Click your profile in the bottom-left corner of the app

  2. Open Account Settings

  3. Go to the Add-ons tab

This screen shows your current balance for each credit type and lets you top any of them up. Because allowances are set per contract and can be adjusted for your workspace, this screen is the only reliable source for your own numbers — always check it rather than assuming a figure. Step-by-step instructions are in How to purchase more credits.

Managers can also see how credits are being used across the team under Analytics → Charts → Data, broken down by user and by credit type.
