Undestand how you can prevent phishing warnings in emails sent via Crono

When you send emails through Crono (even though they are sent from your own email address), we may automatically include:

  • a tracking pixel to monitor opens;

  • a redirect link to track clicks.

These tools are essential to help you understand how prospects interact with your emails. However, some recipient email providers (like Outlook, Gmail, etc.) may flag these tracked links as potential threats, showing warnings such as:

"Anti-spam service has detected a potential phishing attempt from api.crono.one"

The Solution: Use a Custom Domain

To avoid these warnings, we've introduced the ability to use a custom tracking domain, so that all tracking links and pixels appear as part of your own domain (e.g., tracking.yourdomain.com) rather than api.crono.one.

This significantly improves the reputation of your emails with providers and reduces the risk of phishing alerts.

How to Set Up Your Custom Domain

If you have a company domain and access to manage its DNS settings, you can activate this feature in just a few steps:

1. Create a Subdomain

In your domain’s DNS panel, create a CNAME record for a subdomain. For example:

tracking.yourdomain.com CNAME api.crono.one

This subdomain will be used by Crono to track opens and clicks.

2. Notify Us of the CNAME

Once the record is created, let us know. At this point:

  • Our team will generate an HTTPS certificate for your subdomain.

  • We’ll send you an additional DNS record to add, which is required to verify the certificate.

3. Add the Verification Record

You’ll need to add a second DNS record (CNAME) to complete the SSL certificate validation. We will provide the exact details.

4. Activation on Crono’s Side

Once the verification is complete, we will enable the use of your custom domain in our backend.

From that moment on, all links and tracking pixels in your Crono emails will appear as coming from your domain — no more phishing alerts.
